To paraphrase Frank Sinatra, If you can map NYC, you can map anywhere. In 2017, a team consisting of AppGeo, Quantum Spatial, and the University of Vermont was assembled to collect LiDAR and develop a high-resolution land cover dataset for the City of New York. This presentation will dive in to the project, discussing the challenges of mapping in one of the most restrictive and heterogenous environments on the planet, and how the team succeeded in developing a land cover dataset that had a 98% overall accuracy.
