Vricon, a joint venture between Saab and Maxar’s DigitalGlobe, has developed a process for generating a highly accurate, high resolution model of Earth terrain.  This model, at 50cm resolution is demonstrably accurate to better than 3m in all directions, and is the result of creating a multi-view stereo projection from DigitalGlobe’s imagery archive.  The primary product of this model is a triangulated irregular net mesh, which can be directly exploited or exported into all OGC approved 3D formats.

A new derived capability, now in test and evaluation will allow the georegistration of any other still or motion imagery output to the same 3m SE90 accuracy, irrespective of the quality of available metadata.  This process, operating on the sensor output and using Vricon’s mesh as a foundation operates in real time, resulting in vastly improved stability and analytic understanding of the content.  The proposed talk will demonstrate output correction for several types of data sources, and provide insights into the value added in automated exploitation by content overlay using the procedure.

Airborne FMV, satellite EO imagery,  infrared and SAR image sensor types will be registered, and the before/after results displayed, along with observations of the challenges for each image class, and suggestions for further applications research.
