FREE Seminar

NEW for 2015!

IGTF 2015 is offering a FREE Seminar for any conference attendee. As a conference attendee, we invite you to attend this pre-conference Free Seminar, How to Publish and Review for a Top Journal, on Tuesday, May 5th from 8:30 am until 12:15 pm.

How to Publish and Review for a Top Journal

Date: Tuesday, May 5th
Time: 8:30 am until 12:15 pm
Location: At the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel

Given by Dr. Elaine van Ommen Kloeke, Elsevier Publishing
Dr. Elaine van Ommen Kloeke obtained her PhD in soil ecology from the VU University Amsterdam, investigating the potential risks and effects of genetically modified crops on essential invertebrate species in the soil ecosystem. She joined Elsevier as Publisher of Agronomy and Remote Sensing journals since April 2013, working closely with editors, authors and experts in the field of agriculture and remote sensing. She has previously presented publishing workshops to a variety of audiences including the NASA Goddard Space Flight Institute, at Michigan State University and the Conference for Geostatistics for Environmental Applications (Paris).

About the Seminar:

This seminar will provide insight and tips from a Journal Editor on how to structure a paper, write a cover letter and deal with akward feedback from reviewers.

Writing for academic journals is highly competitive. Even if you overcome the first hurdle and generate a valuable idea or piece of research - how do you then sum it up in a way that will capture the interest of reviewers?

There’s no simple formula for getting published - editors’ expectations can vary both between and within subject areas. But there are some challenges that will confront all academic writers regardless of their discipline. How should you respond to reviewer feedback? Is there a correct way to structure a paper? And should you always bother revising and resubmitting? This free seminar will help to answer those and many other questions.

No printed workbook will be provided for this seminar. Materials will be available to registered attendees electronically.

Cost:

This is a free seminar for any attendee of the IGTF or JACIE Workshop to attend. Please confirm your registration by selecting the Seminar option within your online registration for the main conference.
