New Session Types

attendees 2studentsASPRS Conferences are undergoing some exciting changes. One of the most noteable changes is the reorganization of the old technical sessions. Technical sessions will now include a new spectrum of interactive networking sessions aimed at YOUR interests and getting you involved in the conference in a whole new way. Roundtable discussions, panel sessions, Hot Topics, Lightening Talks, and more will be incoorporated into the overall program of sessions.

Here we have outlined each type of session so you have a better idea of what to expect with this new design.

ASPRS has redesigned the Call for Abstracts into a Call for Presentations. We are accepting presentations from a myrid of topic areas (from Geospatial Power in Our Pockets to Business & Management Concepts) to create five Tracks that will be represented throughout the conference.

  • Find a track that interests you most and follow that track throughout the conference or attend sessions from all the various tracks. You will be able to customize your conference experience.

Roundtable Discussions:

  • Interactive Networking Session
  • One expert per table with up to nine attendees.
  • 90 minute sessions
  • The table "expert" will pose a question to the group and the group will discuss the question offering their particular view or methods. This is a great chance to hear from other industry colleagues and gain knowlege for tackling common business issues.

Panel Sessions:

  • A panel of 4-6 experts will discuss a topic, service or product
  • No abstracts presented, this is a discussion presentation.
  • 90 minute sessions
  • The session will close with a question and answer period from the audience

Hot Topics:

  • Interactive Networking Session
  • Small group discussion on hot topics in the Geospatial industry
  • A session Moderator will begin each session with a topic.
  • 90 minute sessions

Lightening Talks:

  • Interactive Networking Session
  • Student and poster presenters will present research information in a short, quick fashion. This type of session has become popular at other meetings as it provides the audience with rapid and intensive overview of research and also allows for more in-depth discussion among presenters and with the audience.
  • 8 to 10 presentations per session, each lasting 8 minutes
  • Poster presenters will be able to also display posters in the Poster Area during the conference.

Oral Presentations:

  • Traditional presentation format with accepted asbtracts from 3 - 4 presenters
  • 90 minute sessions
  • Each presenter is given approximately 18 minutes to present

Commercial Sessions:

  • Exhibitor presentations focused on innovative products and services. These sessions provide participants with the opportunity to receive timely information on technologies, as well as information on advances that can be expected in the near future.

Public Forums - Division Meetings:

  • Interactive Networking Session
  • ASPRS Divisions are given a timeslot in the regular conference program to present their Division to attendees. This is a great way to see what ASPRS Divisions do and how to get involved.
