A New Paradigm to Image Processing: Moving the Processing to the Data
Presented By: Vinay Viswambharan, Esri

Presentation Description:
Conventional image processing techniques have a lot of associated overheads. It is a time consuming process resulting in a lot of intermediate data, redundant data, escalated storage requirements, which all translates to elevated costs. ArcGIS on the other hand, has moved away from traditional image processing techniques and has created this paradigm shift by way of processing imagery ‘on-the-fly’ and thereby pushing the processing to the imagery and not the other way around. This results in improved image quality, the ability to create multiple products from a single source, reduced latency in acquisition to dissemination, eliminating redundancy – which in turn translates to quick turnaround of delivering image products and significantly reduced costs to maintain and process imagery.
